    A nice piece of timber

I don't often get around to posting much, but here is a nice bowl I entered in the local Show competition. This is a stunning piece of wood and the photo does not really do it justice.
It was a Pink Trumpet Tree, Tabebuia impetiginosa.
    regards,
    Richard.

Very nice Richard! Interesting tone mix in the wood. Not only is the timber beautiful but you have a pretty sweet finish on it. Congrats on your award!

The photo doesn't do the bowl justice. It is a stunning piece of wood, but you balanced the grain nicely. Your skill did justice to the wood and showed it off to it's best advantage. Well done.

    Hi Tony,
6 coats of 90% gloss Wattyl Stylwood, a premium pre-catalysed lacquer, rubbed with 0000 steel wool between coats and then finished with Mothers California Gold carnubra wax buffed with a lambswool mop. The Wattyl product is Aussie, but there will be equivalent's around the world.
    Hope that helps,
    Rgds,
    Richard.
