Here's a self portrait taken just this afternoon. I tell ya - focusing a camera with a faceshield on aint easy.

    • How did you find out about this site? Surfing the Web looking for woodworking information
    • What do you enjoy the most about SMC? The valuable information freely given by others with more experience. Now that I have fallen into the Vortex, I enjoy seeing others turning projects.
    • What is the make, model and year of your lathe? Jet Mini 1014 purchased used in May 2007 Jan 2008 I just got my PM3520b.
    • What is your lathe's capacity? The PM3520b has a 20" swing and 35" between centers. The Jet mini has 10" x 36" with the bed extension. I guess its owner's inexperience is the limiting factor.

Well I finally got a 'round 2it' so here's my contribution. I have discovered that I still possess the capability to blow a bowl all to ^&*(, haven't found all the parts yet. I was working with some green (fell out of a white oak in my front yard last Sunday) wood had it going decent just smoothing it out a bit and blooey parts went every where. Just to ease my frazzeled nerves I put a piece of cherry on and made a small box. Its not complete yet I have to make the lid probably out of dunnowood the cherry piece was to small. Nuff about that on with the show.

    • <--- I can't seem to get rid of that dot!
    When did you join SMC?
I joined in March of 2005.

How did you first find out about this site?
I read about it in an email magazine. I think it was called the Woodworker's Ezine or something like that.

What do you enjoy the most about SMC?
I like SMC because whenever I have a question, no matter how stupid, or how many times it has been asked before, I can always get an answer, usually pretty quickly. I also love seeing what everyone else is working on.

What is the make, model and year of your lathe?
My lathe is an old Rockwell/Delta, I don't know the model or year. It used to belong to my wifes grandfather, when he moved into an apartment I got it and most of the other equipment from his shop. You can see the whole thing here, keep in mind, the video was shot over a year ago when we first moved in, the shop is a lot messier now!

    What is your lathes capacity?
It has a 12" swing and I believe it is 36" long. It can be set up to turn outboard but I haven't tried that yet.
