    storage rack

I thought I would provide a quick note about a storage shelf setup I made last summer. Basically it is an external framework of 3/4" angle iron welded at the corners. Shelf frames are sized to fit inside the external framework. Boards are cut to fit inside the shelf frames. Height of the shelves is controlled by end pieces cut to the height necessary. That makes a system that is shelf, end pieces, shelf, end pieces, ... This permits extreme flexibility of shelving, stronger shelves (with iron support), and shelf supports stronger instead of just several pins holding the shelf up.

Made a simple jig on welding bench and made each shelf frame in about 10 minutes. Cuts to wood are very simple straight cuts. The shelves can be made as strong as desired by changing from 3/4" to 1" or larger.

Drawing attached and a couple of pictures (sorry about the mess). In these you can see the shelf floating on the end pieces (one picture I pulled the end piece out to show it better.

Not certain if this would have been better in the design forum. Oh well
