    Question Staining Beech

Anything I need to know about Beech? Does it blotch? Does it need a sealer?
Im going to be staining it with a light colored stain and then covering with wipe on gel varnish.
    Thanks

    Craig,
Not sure that I am the best finisher out there but I had a beech glider rocker chair I stained with a natural stain. It did blotch a little bit and didn't come out quite like I wanted it to but the LOML liked it so that is all that matters I guess. Maybe a coat of dewaxed shellac first would have helped me but too late now.
    Good Luck,
    Greg

I have only done small boxes out of beech adn some vise jaws. I had no problem using just BLO and a de-waxed shellac (no shellac on the jaws). The surfaces were not large so I guess I just didn't notice the blotchiness factor. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachme...3&d=1183089018
