    Planer decision

Well, it is now down one of two machines.

While I believe either of these machines will be more than adequate, does anyone have anything for or against these two units.

    Woodmaster 725 25" 7.5hp variable speed 3 knives/4200 rpm

    Powermatic 209 20" 5hp 4 speed 4 knives/5000 rpm (spiral head)

Thanks for your assistance over the last several weeks in narrowing the field.

Boy, you have two very nice semi-finalist listed. I would say that the PM and its spriral head would be awesome for figured lumber...far less tear out and blade changing/rotaing is a breeze(..plus you will never need to worry about setting knives every again). However, I think that the Woodmaster has an optional head that can be used as a drum sander(..and I may be confusing the drum sander for the moulding machine??). Either way you cant loose....but the PM looks really good from a quailty and effeciancy stand point...
