    Question Turning Pepper Mills

Do I need anything special to turn pepper mills? I have a Jet lathe with a live center but should I get a revolving center to turn these?

Justin - I made a jam chuck that is attached to an extra faceplate and use the live center for the other end. Simple and easy. For the top piece, I just chuck it up with a utility chuck. Made 27 of them this way in the past 6 months. Good luck!

You can use that $100 for all the forstner bits you'll need if you do multiple types of mills. I believe Craft Supplies has their instructions online. You can look there for all the tools you'll need, but as Wayne said you can turn a jam chuck to drive it after you have the holes in it. You can also turn a larger cone to fit your live center to center the drilled blank.
