    Leather vise face?

For those of you who have leather on your vise faces, do you have both jaws lined or just one?

    Thanks.

I stitched impleated brass buttons around the piping on mine.

This is the first I've heard of leather on vice jaws. Sounds like a good idea.
Do you put the rough side toward the work?

On my leg vise, I have one side only (the vise itself, not the leg) covered with leather, smooth side out.

I've been taking my direction for my twinscrew vise (and asking questions) from this thread

All the pics posted there show both faces. My LV Tucker vise already came with leather on both faces.

  5. One side...

On my leg vise, I don't have any leather, but on my tail vise, I have a piece, about 3/16" thick on the moveable face, with the rough side out. It works great, and I also keep a piece of scrap leather near the bench, so I can wrap odd shaped object with it if needed.
