    Sorry I'll defer to Tim on that Open GL thing, I sort of recall reading that now. Works fine on my G5 tower, MacBook Pro, older iMac, and iBooks. I 'll check on my daughter's MacBook.

    SketchUp is not CAD and there can be a challenge in learning both concurrently. For me SketchUp is great for conceptualizing and visualizing, not great for fine or complex detail. I am 2D and 3D literate and there are definite differences, as Ray noted, in the thought process in all of them. When I switch there is always a readjustment phase.

    I do use offsets and construction lines often in SU. Using Layers in SketchUp is also very different than CAD. In SU always draw on layer 0 and only move components/groups to a new named layer, turning layers on and off for visibility and inferencing. With the tutorials I learned to use SU in 4-5 hours, CAD much longer. Learning is always an ongoing process though.
