    Small Quilted Maple bowl

This is the bowl that prompted the comment from a friend about "putting a lid on these little bowls so they would be useful" and the creation of the Blue Maho box in a previous post.

I learned that Quilted Maple is VERY unforgiving and that you HAVE to have VERY sharp tools.

Do a search on SMC for "bonker"...it will make you smile...

Good spindle projects include candle sticks, tool handles, ornaments, etc.

I really like the rim... and the wood... and the finish... It's a bowl I'd be proud to own!

Thanx everyone... I'm still learning the fine art of bowl turning... making a lot of catch all's for the shop .

Jim - I think you were responding to the newbie turning idea thread w/ the bonkers... but I did the search and spent the next hour laughing my butt off... you guys are just bad!.... I learned a lot... I didn't know that all those pieces of firewood I turned in the beginning were actually bonkers... hell, I've got a LOT of 'em. I even had some guys from a heat and air supply company pay me $10 each for "eel bonkers" made from 3x3 oak pallet skids that they throw away...
