    Dance Floor Finishes

I need help for our local community center to find a dance floor finish. They put on a polyurethane that is so slippery we can't dance on it.

Dance studios I talk to say the best floor is unfinished (polished with steel wool) maple. That's not practical for a multi-use room (food stains, grease stains, street shoe marks, etc).

Gym floor finish works, but is often too sticky.

What product - exactly - have you had experience with in finishing a dance floor?

And, if we have to live with the polyurethane we have now, what can we put on it to stop the slippery effect?

    The floor is maple.

    Thanks

No offense intended here, but you're asking the wrong folks. You really need to call a supply company and ask what they have or what they can get for dance floors. There generally are flooring supply companies in medium to larger market cities. Or you could try talking to a manufacturer of floor finishes, such as Bona Kemi (I've used their waterborne floor finishes plenty, but never for a dance floor).

    Hope that helps.
