I got a great deal on a used scroll saw!

I recently bought a Made In America Delta 18" variable speed scroll saw (Model # 40-601) with stand and light included for $40.00 at a yard sale! It works perfectly. There's some slight surface rust on the table which I've already started cleaning (after having done a few simple projects as is). I've done perfect scrolls on really hard 7/8 maple and beech 100 year old barnwood that I recycled. My research on the net indicated that this saw sold for around $700 bucks with the stand and light when it was new. It's no longer being made.

The point of this post is to encourage folks with a limited budget to look around for good deals on solid used equipment in good condition. They're out there!

Below are photos of some pieces that I built using the scroll saw right after I bought it. The only thing I did to the saw before using it on these pieces was to add a new blade.

This machine works perfectly for my needs and I got it for next to nothing.

Going to revive an old thread here. I just picked up this very model of scroll saw this morning, FREE, from CL. Looking forward to cleaning it up and adding to my shop.
