    New Carvewright

I finally got a Carvewrite last week.

So far, I've cut a couple of nameplates and a couple of boxes.

So far so good (knock on wood).

I plan on making some pen boxes and get back into flatwork a little.

Isn’t this post in violation of the SMC picture rule?

    Congrats!

    You sir are correct.

The first is a purpleheart box with the machine. The second is a apple box with my company's logo (done as a test. It was the only hi-res image I had available).

The heart box is mine. The apple box (without logo) is from a tutorial from the web.

That's pretty cool Nathan. How long did it take to run that?

Thanks. Each one took about an hour.

    Happy with my machine

I am very happy with my machine. Did have a problem this weekend with Air Carving then Gouge Carving. A out of control Z. First I swapped the Z drive cable with my back up machine and that did not fix it. Then swapped the Z motor with encoder and that fixed it. Have a replacement part on the way from LHR at no cost. Having a spare machine aided in the troubleshooting.

Dust cover removed from encoder. A purchased pattern. Gouged Z, loosing it's place. Most likely an encoder problem.

So far, no air carving, but I do have one board where the point of the carving bit just plunges into the top of the board. It's only that one board. So far, any other board works, but if I put that board back in, the bit plunges into it.

It is a 1/2" poplar board.

Thought about burning it, but it would probable burn my house down.
