Rocking horse and child rocking chair

Does anyone have plans for a nice rocking horse or a childs rocking chair. I would like to have. I would like something with solid rockers with some scroll work in the solid wood

As for the chair I found one some time ago and forgot to mark the page. but something with solid sides with some ornate work similuar to the horse rocker.

I have a CNC router to do the scroll work so that should not be a problem I just cannot find any plans that I like.

    Thanks for the help

I have a book of selected projects from the New Yankee Workshop that has a nice rocking horse plan in it. I have a nephew that I am going to build one for (he's still a bit small for it right now). It doesn't have scroll work in the design, but the sides are made from thick planks that I think you could easily add your own scrollwork to without compromising the strength.

Here is a link to the project on the NYW site:

Buying the book would probably be cheaper and it has plans for about 10 projects, including the Adirondack Chair that I've heard a lot of good things about. The book is "Classics from the New Yankee Workshop" and if you search for it on Amazon.com you will find that there are a lot of used copies out there that you can pick up for just a few bucks. I think the book does an excellent job of describing how to build the various projects, and it does include scale templates of the various pieces. They aren't full-size templates and are not as detailed as the measured drawings you can get from the New Yankee site, but I think for most of the easy-to-intermediate projects that they are more than adequate.
If I could ever finish working on my shop, maybe I could find the time to start working in my shop.

Check this out. You may be able to modifiy it to your needs. This was my first woodworking endeavor and I've made a few since. They seem to turn out better each time. http://www.furnitureplans.com/pi_products/6100

    another vote for Norm's plan

I've built two rocking horses from Norm's plan- and would build another if the need arises. As already noted, you could do some scrolling on the side panels- plus there are two heart shaped pieces that you could dress up.
