    Spray gun suggestions

We are going to paint a couple of rooms that have exposed brick. Since the rooms are completely empty we thought spraying would be easier.

What would be an appropriate and inexpensive spray gun for this job? What about cfm consumption?

The only other "big" job is spraying preservative on our yard fence. After that, we may paint the entire interior of the house in the next few years.

    Thanks,
    Burt

If you are going to be spraying latex paint or some of the other thicker stuff you might want to look at an airless. I have no experience with them but the HVLP setups you find most commonly discussed here are likely not very well suited to your needs (based on your description).

Inexpensive would be to rent an airless.

Some HVLP turbine set up's will spray latex but for a wall you need a larger tank and you are getting into big money.

I'll check out the rentals. Sounds like a good idea.

Spraying works well for empty rooms. Airless will progress a lot faster than either traditional or HVLP. HVLP would be glacially slow compared with airless for painting something as large as a room. Use a bonnet, mask, etc., so you don't get painted by overspray.

I'll also suggest and airless setup for the type of work you intend to do. You may still need to back-roll with a heavy nap roller to insure all the nooks and crannies in the brick get paint.
