Porter Cable 2" Brad Nailer Problem

My nailer has a soft plastic tip that comes off. It's so flimsy it seems it is designed to be replaced. Anybody had this problem? The nailer won't work without it.

    Thanks
    Hans

Actually, the soft tip is optional. The tool should work just fine without it. The soft tip is used to avoid denting delicate woods with the safety plunger.

If it is not working without that small "C" shaped tip, the problem is elsewhere IMO.

Thanks Mike, right you are. I'm still not sure what the problem was but it's working fine now. As for the soft tip, with a bit of persistence I managed to get it back on.

    Regards

I have the PC brad nailer and it got to the point it would fire the nail but would not retract back to position to fire the next nail. I took it to a repair facility and the guy I talked to was very helpfull. Inside the gun there is a small nylon disk about the size of a dime. The repair guy told me to look at the exhaust area and if there was little white chips or residue that was a sign that the small disk had gone bad. He gave me a disk and I replaced it and the nailer works like a brand new one. My nailer did not just quit working it gradually went bad. Hope this helps.
