    Applying Briwax

Is there a trick to using Briwax? this is my first try with anything other then Johnson's paste wax . The wax seems to stick to the table as soon as it hits it, doesn't spread well at all. As you can see it doesn't remove very well either.

I left it to dry for about 30 minutes after applying it, going with the grain. Attempting to repmove it by hand, should I try the electric buffer?

    Thanks

Is your can dried out or old? I believe that Briwax has more solvent than Johnson's and should go on a bit easier. I have not had any difficulty in applying it. I use a circular motion to apply, and then remove with back and forth motion along the grain. It does take a bit of elbow grease to raise a shine, but I have never felt the need to go with an electric buffer.

    Bob,

FWW # 183 article "Maintaining a Finish" may be helpful.
    http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking
Under TECHNIQUES > FINISHING search for - Maintaining a Finish. This PDF file contains the article. Read the "How to apply paste wax" section.

I'v found Briwax works well if you do a small area, apply thinly, and buff as soon as you can.
