    Yes you can color BLO. One way would be to use TransTint concentrate. But, we are warned that this does not work in most Danish Oil mixes because of the high concentration of thinner. You might go the the www.homesteadfinishing.com finishing forum to see what limits there would be on the use of TransTint in oil/varnish mixes.

    There are powered oil soluble dyes (w.d. lockwood is one maker) that would dissolve in naptha or other petroleum based solvents that might be used in a mix.

    The most commonly recommended mix for oil/varnish mixes is the combination of equal parts of BLO, varnish, and thinner. One reason people like to mix their own is that this has considerably more solids content than most store bought mixes being pretty close to 50% solids depending on the solids content of the varnish.
