    Talk about oily wood!

I've dealt with mildly oily woods before, but bacote has to take the cake! I'd wiped it down with acetone as told on other oily wood. My finish of spar just would NOT dry! So stripped it down twice (hows that for a slow learner ) Then contacted someone I knew would figure out my problem. Yup, needed to get some Zinsser to coat it after the acetone wash. Whew! poor guy has been waiting forever for this turkey call, hope he likes it!

    Hi Bonnie,
The call looks great as always. I've been there and done that with bocote and cocobolo. I ended up using deft on bocote and it did great.

Bonnie it is beautiful. Yep been there done that. I found on Cocobolo that if I wipe down with DNA then hit it with lacquer it works pretty well.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
