Help! I am out of t-shirts!!!

After too many recent finishing jobs, I am totally out of old, lintless t-shirts. I even raided the closets of my wife and kids. There's not a t-shirt left in the house and the wife drew the line after her recent re-stock.

I bought that bag-of-rags and box-of-rags before, but they had too much lint and loose threads for finishing, IMO.

So, I actually have to buy some good rags.

Where do you get yours? What brand/type?

Help please. If I need to order these online, i hope they can get to me fast!

The Borg has t-shirt material. If you unfold it you can see where the t-shirt was cut out of it. Price seems reasonable.

Well....I don't use cloth. I use the Scott's paper product in the square yellow and blue dispenser box from the borg. Lint free and soft.

99 cent store fabric scraps, JoAnnes, etc. during sales if you need cloth. Like Jim, I use Costco's brand paper towels for shellac and such. Cloth for dyes.

Greg, A few years back I was talking to a lady that runs a screen printing business. I found out that you can buy tons of "unsellable" t-shirts for next to nothing. It seems that there are often overruns that are no longer of any value and they will sell them very cheaply(as in $5 for a big bag of t-shirts).
I would think if you asked around at a few screen printing places and ask for their left overs you might find a deal or two.

I'm with Becker - those Scott paper rags are "good for what ails ya'." I use them for just about everything, and abandoned trying to use rags. I found that with rags, I would hang on to them too long and contaminate them with something. Too much tendency to pick up that rag laying on the bench and not recalling, or caring, what I had last used it for.

Please note that the "paper rags" I'm referring to are white and soft...not the blue shop towels.

I get whites by the box full at the local used clothes place for the needy.

3-4 bucks for clean, already cut up white T-shirts.

Ditto! Plus, my wife likes them for her crafty type things she does.

And too, if you can get a good deal on "cloth baby diapers". They make good lint free rags. They are getting harder to find these last 10 yrs or so. They also make great buffing cloths.

Find your nearest Goodwill, St Vincent DePaul or other charitable store and buy a bag of rags for about $3.00. Will last a long time.
