    Candle Holder

This is oak burl that a friend gave me. It is 5.5" by 2.5" and hard as a rock. When I roughed it out it was nothing but dust. I started out making a bowl but I loved the grain and I thought the best way to look at it would be a candle holder on the kitchen table.

That is some beautiful wood. And it is still a bowl, albeit one with really thick sides.

Very nice looking wood Pete! Any chance you have enough wood to make a matching set? Either way - would look great on a table!

When I read the caption I was expecting something in more of a spindle. That is really cool as a candle holder. I agree that the character in the wood was to pretty to turn to shavings by making a bowl. And it made a very unique and beautiful candle holder.
