    Haven't posted in awhile....

But finally got some stuff done.

Leopard wood slate/glass osage and leopard strikers.....

    Zebra wood slate/glass pecan strikers.....

    Sassafras aluminum/slate walnut striker.....

    Cypress copper/glass osage strikers......

And a spalted pecan bowl that's 'almost' done. I need to finish the bottom and put finish on it....

    Love the Bowl!

Thay will be a special bowl Bonnie. The rim treatment is outstanding. The rest of the bowl is nicely shaped, and configured. That is a ten in anyones book.

    Bonnie,

Your turkey calls (that's what they are, right?) are fantastic. Are selling them or making them as gifts? Either way, whoever receives them will be proud to show them off!

Please show us the bowl when it's finished. I love the form of it, but it'll look even better with a coat or two of something that will make the grain and spalting pop!

You're doing great work. Keep it up!

Thanks everyone. I'm sure the buyers were starting to wonder if they'd ever get their calls lol

I use a spar urethane finish on the calls and a CA/BLO on the strikers.

I must need a stamp in my 'Man Card'....I know what duck and turkey calls look like but I've never seen these before. What are you calling with these?

They are turkey friction (pot) calls.

    Bonnie,

    All very nice.

Did you find Leopard wood as much as a pain to turn as I did? It seemed I had to sharpen my tools ever 10 seconds.

Looking forward to seeing the bowl after it is finished.

I have 'affectionately' renamed leopard wood "The Wood from Hell" LOL never fails people want calls made of it. I get slivers every time I turn it.

I agree. I start out with 6" blanks and end up with a 5" bowl thanks to the sure brittleness of leapardwood. But I've sold every bowl I've every made with it.
