Hand tools are very modern- they are all cordless
NORMAL is just a setting on the washing machine.

Wow! That thing's got all the latest features!

I was just at the BORG and saw a display of keyless chucks. I had to snicker a little, thinking about the eggbeater and braces at home.

I've got one like that but the power source isnt as strong as it used to be, seems to take longer and longer to recharge and runs down quickly

This is an interesting thread I have a few of these including 1 that I got with a bunch of other tools that didn't have a chuck. Then I remembered that I had a 3/8" Makita drill chuck & wondered what the chances were???? Well here it is the Stankita eggbeater drill.Older & newer technology together.

I usually find it much easier to be wrong once in while than to try to be perfect.

    A coincidence?

I just received a brand new egg beater drill that I ordered from Garrett Wade. I have an old one my BIL gave me when I was sixteen that I use at CNU for touching up braille holes in door signs and needed another for my shop here at home. I searched high and low and could not find one anywhere in eastern Virginia so i had to order it.

Wow. Things must be REALLY bad there. These things appear often enough that I ignore most of them.

    Bill,

I guess people just don't buy these kinds of tools anymore, I haven't seen a brace and bit in a store in many years around here. Everyone is battery crazy I guess and they overlook the value in older style tools. There are some projects that the eggbeater drill is the only tool for the job, no other tool provides the same ability to drill with a very light touch like cleaning out the bottom of laser engraved braille holes in Corian.

All of the really good hardware stores are long gone around here. I doubt that many people even remember the old hardware stores that were around when I was young.

I find eggbeaters pretty often around here. Many are real beaters, no pun intended. These pictured are all real smooth users, and get regular use around the house. You can find Yankee drills just about as often. I've got three good users, one of which is equipped with a magnetic hex chuck similar to what Harry is using. It comes in pretty handy. I'll post a pic of that when I get a chance.
