    Material Thickness

    How thick can the material to be engraved be so the engraving head assembly can travel without hitting it?

    I think it really depends upon your laser - mine is either 4 or 6 inches.

    Barbara,

    My Epilog Legend Model 24 has 8" of clearance below the engraving head. I believe that this is pretty standard for the Epilog machines until you reach the really large and expensive engravers. There are some open bed machines on the market that have more clearance below the head and of course width and height of the bed as well but the depth of cabinet style machines rarely is over 8".
