    Question Blog Question

Do you need to add meta tags to the HTML of Blogs for better search engine placement? I've been checking source codes on blogs and don't see anyone with normal website meta tags. Thanks, Sean

I've done a lot of search engine optimization work and here's my advice (others may disagree)

Meta tags are kind of like chicken soup when you have a cold, couldn't hurt but might help. For the most part google ignores meta tags.

if you want to improve search engine rankigs there are a couple of tips

    1) Setup a Google webmaster account
    https://www.google.com/webmasters/to.../en/about.html
ad the tracking code they provide and then wait a few weeks, once you have some clear data and recommendations do pretty much whatever they recommend

    2) Create a google formatted site map
    https://www.google.com/webmasters/to.../protocol.html

    3) get other websites to link to your site (but don't use link exchanges, only legitimate sites)

    4) Update your content on a regular basis

    5) submit your site to http://www.dmoz.org/ google gives priory to sites listed at dmoz.org

Thanks for the info. I completed all you've mentioned. I know it's a wait and see game.

I have seen this suggested many times. How many different ways can you say the same thing? Do you write up a few different descriptions about your company and then rotate them? What am I missing?
