Hidden Entertainment Center in Sapelle' Room

After all the planning, the figuring out, the assembling and handing it off to a great installer, it works.

This is in the same room as my Sapelle' wall of cabinets

The plan was simple, a bar room full of recessed panels. One of them will contain a hidden audio entertainment center. You push a button and it slides out of the wall, push the button again and it goes back in, out of sight, like it never existed. And it worked !!

Here is the crappy quality phone video. Wish it was better, but it isn't.

Here is the static picture of the area.

Is that a closet to the right that can't be accessed when it's open?

    Nice job.

Who gets the nightmare of finishing on site?

    Goes to another room.

Not me. I would have prefinished but they don't have a clue what color they want. So I'll let the finisher deal with their indecision.

That's a very slick setup. I love the Sapelle room.

Leo, as before, the craftmanship on this project is fantastic! But, I think the icing on the cake is that custom crafted chandelier - it just adds that "special" touch that lets everyone know that you have been there!

Mahogany is one of my most favorite woods...especially the ribbon stripe stuff. I made my bedroom furniture from this wood 20 years ago and still enjoy the look.

I especially like your application. Doing this work to a room makes the room looks elogant and rich. Really nice work!

    Wow, Beautiful.

How many hours approximately of actual woodworking (i.e. not counting the designing stage) has it taken you to get this done?

    inspirational.

    cheers,

If you are talking just the moving section of the hidden portion, that took me less than three days. Took me a day to make the internal box that surround everything and holds the mechanicals and the cabinet that will hold the audio equipment. The mechanicals, which include the 30" 500 lb slides, the linear actuator and the table that holds everything (the cabinet) took me about 1 1/2 days. Everything behind the wall has two coats of clear pre cat lacquer on it. The cabinet FF is Sapelle' and the front edges of the plywood shelves has a mahogany wood tape on it. I passed it off to the installers who put it in and formed the panel from the 1/2" ply I supplied them.
