    Porch swing plans?

The ole BaC has requested I build her a porch swing this fall. Does anyone have a line on any good plans out there? I did a google search and found only plans for a cypress swing with 1" horizontal slats. I'm looking for a beefier swing, perhaps one that requires cushions and with vertical slats. This is for a turn of the century farmers porch. Even pictures of a nice one are welcome. I'm pretty good at reverse engineering. Thanks in advance!

I ended up using an augmented version of Norm's plans. I made it 5 feet wide instead of 4. I used dominoes instead of mortise and tenon joinery. I used white oak with a painted finish. I have another thread with more details of assembly over on Festool Owners Group if you're interested.

Not to hijack....I will be in the market to building one also, probably over the winter or next spring....will bookmark. We have the std. 4 foot one but the hooks on the ceiling are 5 foot wide, sooooo....a bit larger one.

Smile What ever you build . . .

What ever you build, put some leather shrouds / tubes a couple feet up on the chains. This eliminates pinches . . .

On Norm's plan the front posts are offset giving clearance between the armrest and the chain. No "tubing" required.
