I just started kicking this idea around to build window shutters for the house. We want some kind of blinds but several of our windows are 4'x6' and the blinds are super expensive. I know if I build just a couple of shutters I won't be saving a nickel but if I build a house full of them, well, economy of scale kicks in and I might save a little and have some very nice shutters. Note only that, wooden shutters look soooo nice...

So, with that said... Any help would be appreciated. I have several thoughts so far, pine for it's weight, panel doors for their simplicity and Soss hinges for design. I'm also thinking very tall shutters would be trouble so the tall windows may be better suited by having top and bottom shutters.

Any thoughts?
