grain direction on euro style vanities..

I was curiuos to know if there is a "rule of thumb" etc for grain direction especially with veneer plywood. My first take is the grain should run with the long end of piece(i.e. cabinet face). After researching euro/modern style furniture I see no apparent consistancy.
My guess its purely a design decision and personal preference?

    Any thoughts on this/input/suggestions?

I think it is a design and personal preference. I work with several designers and have done vanities both ways. Vertical grain and horizontal grain. It seems that generally the ones with horizontal grain are not as tall and longer and usually mount to the wall with no legs in other words more contemporary.

Always use the word "impossible" with extreme caution
