    Christmas Early

Well went to Denver yesterday to pick up my Christmas gift that the LOML already had paid for. Didn't realize that she had called Woodcraft or Rockler in Denver in which Rockler had one in stock. She told me she had called as soon as she found out that the C-man went down and that I was looking at the Jet 1220 VS. I must say there is no comparison. This thing is sweet, quiet, and smooth. Speed control is smooth. Points on livecenter and drive center are dead on up/down and side to side. I am going to give it a go after lunch and turn a bottle stopper to see how she preforms.

Bernie - congrats on your new lathe! Looking forward to seeing the bottle stopper and hearing how you like the lathe after using it.

Might suggest you plug the lathe into a power strip and use that switch to turn your lathe off & on as it seems most folks have problems with the on/off switch. Hope you are the exception to the rule!

    Bernie,
Early Christmas presents are really great. Now you have enough time to make a few Christmas presents others and share the joy. Way to go!!

Thanks to all. I am pleased so far with it. I turned 4 bottle stoppers on it this afternoon. It was a pleasure to use. I have a 11" maple bowl blank I want to try on it. I am sure I won't be able to hog wood like on the Nova but really want to see what it will do.

Steve we shall see about the switch. Working in electricity and electronics replacing the switch will be a breeze. I will use a heavy duty one if needed.

    Bernie,

Here's wishing you many happy years of turning on your new lathe! I'm assuming there will be something special coming off of it for the loyl.

Lucky guy Bernie, now you should do something great for TLOYL and sign the two of you up for one of those turning cruises I see on line!

Thanks again. Yes I do plan on turning her a special gift for the gift I got her. I plan on making a special lidded box for the diamond necklace and earrings I got her that she doesn't know about. She is a special lady.
