    Walnut & Jatoba platform bed

About 3 weeks ago, I posted about building a bed for a family who lost absolutely everything due to a house fire. They are staying with the husband's brother and have been sleeping in the kids' rooms. The brother has a very large finished basement which they could move into if only they had a couple of beds. So I donated labor and some materials, and several people from my church raised money (over $600) to pay for the rest of the materials for the two beds.

Well, yesterday was delivery day for the first bed. It's a queen size for the parents. The daughter will receive a full size.

Please feel free to criticize or ask any questions. Thanks!

Nice work for a great cause! I have been though more than one house fire and lost everything each time so I know how much this must have meant to them.

Now that is classy. Not the bed (it is beautiful, BTW), but YOU!

Great job, Matt. And a wonderful thing, too.

Well done with both the build and reason for it. I bet the bed will be around long after they recover from the losses.

That's a great bed Matt. I'm sure it will be around a long time too, and will probably become a treasured item. Nice going.
