    Help with paint issue

    Good Morning,

Okay, I goofed and used latex paint on shelves for two cabinets over washer/dryer.
    I know I know I know!!!!

Would the "Borgs" carry a brand of waterborne acrylic that I could put on after sanding these?

Its Sunday, and I really need to get it done to day.

    Thanks,
    Kerry

I coated my daughters' latex-painted shelves with Minwax Polycrylic. It worked fine. No 'blocking'.

Ace sells Insl-X CabinetCoat which is a tintable, urethane-reinforced waterborne acrylic. It'll bind fine. I used it on a closet on an oil primer and it worked great.

I am always confused by the terms latex/acrylic/enamel, but the best I can tell, CabinetCoat is waterborne (so it's technically latex, I guess), but the binder is a urethane reinforced acrylic, which is supposed to make it harder than acrylic (although I think the term urethane is used very lightly, so I'm not sure it has the durability or conventional polyurethane. But it is hard enough to be scrubbable, which I guess makes it an 'enamel'.

Minwax Polycrylic worked fine for me.

I am new and keep seeing the term "Borg". What does that mean?

Based on the Star Trek characters who moved in and assimilated other life forms - "Resistance is futile!". In this context, the term is usually applied to the chain stores, primarily Lowe's and Home Depot, which move in and "assimilate" or run locally owned and operated "Mom 'n' Pop" stores out-of-business.

Sometimes used as an acronym for "Big Orange Retail Giant" meaning Home Depot which is sometimes called the Orange Borg to differentiate it from Lowe's, the Blue Borg.
