Deft Rattle Can Lacquer - Got some bumps on the final coat

    All,

I was spraying some Christmas Serving trays with a final coat of Deft Rattle-Can Semi-gloss lacquer - The first 2 coats went on fine, and I sprayed the 3rd coat last night. When I went out and checked them this morning, the last coat was very textured - almost like an orange peel wall finish. THe weather in the shop has been cold - 30-40 degrees F - but I sprayed some other stuff and it did not come out like this. The lacquer did spray out of the can a bit clumpy on all three coats, but between the first two, it melded and bonded nicely. Any ideas on why, but more importantly, do I need to sand thru, or can I wipe it down with lacquer thinner to smooth? I think I am going to put wipe-on poly on instead, in a warmer environmet, once I get the lacquer smoothed out? These have a base of Danish Oil underneath the lacquer, which did cure, albeit very slow.

    Help!

    Brent,
Exact same thing happend to me on a couple of picture frames a couple of weeks ago. First 2 coats seemed fine and then came the bumpy texture. I still think it was a reaction wiht the danish oil on mine. I did not let it cure long enough.
