    Help Identifying Lathe (newbie)

Can anyone help telll me what model lathe this is? I've mailed the seller, but no response yet. I thought it looks like either a 46-140 or a 46-204, but it doesn't look exactly like those (at least the pictures I could find...)

    Thanks

    Dan,
That looks like a Delta 1460. Old Woodworking Machines Forum (www.owwm.com) should have some information for you. Below is a link to their forum's photo index for Delta lathes.

That looks like a Delta lathe to me( sorry I didn't help much). Looks like a great lathe, a lot better than those cheap foreign mini lathes.

    Delta model 1460, 12" swing.

The tool rest holder is from a 46-111 which is much lighter duty than the original that came with it. Other than that it looks complete.

Yep, 1460. I've got 2 set up. Great all around lathe. I've turned lots of tops, table legs, bowls, knobs, ballusters, newels, rosettes, and even a 8"x30" coopered table base on these. The tool rest holder in the picture is useable but not fun. Get the heavier one. I have used a 1/2 hp motor with countershaft for years with no problems. My other one has a 3/4 hp with one belt straight down. Good luck.
