More Good TV Coverage ! ! !
I was scheduled to be on the local CBS Afflliate TV Station at 5:00 tonight. However, the NCAA Basketball Tournament pre-empted the scheduled evening news brodcast. Since the news Anchorperson (Jason Miles) didn't have to do the show he brought a cameraman to the shop late this afternoon and did and extensive interview and shot lots of video as he had done previously. This was Jason's second visit to "The Old Rebel Workshop". He wanted to do a follow-up to his original story on the project after calling me to find out how the project was progressing.
The piece aired tonight on the 10:00p news as the lead in story. Jason did a fabulous job on a full 4 minute report (a lot of time when it comes to TV). I read a couple of the e-mails from the troops and they showed the recent picture of troops holding up pens they had received. I also made a plea for local businesses to contribute to the project. The story will re-air on WHNT TV, Channel 19 news brodcasts tomorrow. The general theme of the story was to make the viewers aware of FPP and to solicit community and business support for the project. Jason urged his viewers to contribute to the project and urged local businesses to do the same. Freedom Pens web page and the Old Rebel Workshop FPP donations page. Here is a link to the WHNT TV station website with the story and links to both the FPP web site and the Old Rebelworkshop web site: http://www.whnt.com/Global/story.asp...8&nav=1VPtLr0F I hope this results in some monetary donations. - - we shall see. Before Jason and his cameraman left we discussed ways to possibly get some major CBS coverage and other ways to promote FPP. Maybe something even bigger will come from this. My thanks go out to WHNT TV for their continued support of the Freedom Pens Project, especially to Jason Miles and Robert Reeves who have shown their support from day one.

Wow! It doesn't get a whole lot better than that!!! Great job, Ken!
I've acquired 4 pieces of teak (from someone who is on this forum) that came from the deck of the USS New Jersey. I'm making pens for my US representative and senator from it and telling them that they are welcome to present them to soldier for a photo op if they wish. Maybe that could tie in with the national news coverage you are working on. Thanks again, Ken . . . you are super! Jerry |
