Kitchen finally finished
I started this about 1 year ago but got so busy building others stuff I stopped until 2 months ago. I did everything but the granite and backsplash. Took old out and put new appliances in, changed out some ecltrical, added undermout cabinet lights. Put soft close on all draws and most doors. Have alot of pullouts behind doors , some for pots, hide a double trash , spice pullout. Its all maple, Rails and Stiles are 3 inches. Tough to sand an oval shaped stile an rail , especially the inside corners.Little did I know theres such thing as a prfile sander I could of rented time on to have done the stock before mitering.
I still havent painted in this pic but thats done and im changing out all the outlet covers to be like the brushed bronze ( plastik) ones in the upper cabinet pics. Backsplashs are glass mosaic 5/8 square. Three types of glass or stone in each color. Legs on island are 2 5/8 thick and the shelves on end of island are Ipe.Cabinets are Rock Maple. Any crtiques welcome. Kitchen.jpg Kitchen 2.jpg Kitchen 3.jpg Kitchen 4.jpg Kitchen 5.jpg Kitchen 6.jpg |

Nice work, I like that the design will appeal to many people with the blacks and light maple contrast. Overall clean and modern looking.
The cabinetry is unique in that I don't see many homes with that type of rounding of doors and drawers, yet it contrsts well with the crisp lines in other areas. I've seen worse kitchen remodels and they spent $50,000... I imagine you paid a fraction of that if you did the custom cabinets yourself. |

Craig, that is the first cabinetry I have seen with the contoured rails/stiles. Very unique, and does very well with the general style of cabinets. Excellent design layout and good execution.
How did you do the rails/stiles? |

Rails and Stiles were made on a moulder.I havent seen anyone else have them like that before. I biscuited the joints and used springs clamps to hold while they dried.

Would of went with all black but in different lights the black looks so dirty. The tropical brown hides everything. |

Extremely nice... I love the natural tone of the maple as it definitely brightens up the kitchen. My wife just saw the picture and unfortunately... she really likes that light tone and unfortunately again... ours needs a make-over after 20 years. So... I suppose you just set the tone for our shack.

The duct just runs to foundation and vents there.A neighbor has the pop up type that comes out of back of stove electrically, thats about 900 more i think. Why I mention is because he has the motor 6 feet away in his wall cabinets, a bigger more powerful one to suck all smoke down.Never knew people did that or maybe it was a need. |

Great job Craig, very unusual rails and stiles. How much did the stock cost? I have to do mine soon. Thanks.
