My first gloat

I've been eyeing a drum sander for a while, but really couldn't justify the money for something I wasn't sure I'd use a lot. But when I got a chance to pick up this lightly-used one for $225, I couldn't say no. Per official gloat rules, here's a photo of it in the shop.

Funny thing is, the morning after I got it I needed to thin down a piece of masonite and this was the perfect tool for that!

Lets see a 16/32 drum sander for $225... Let me be the first to say YOU SUCK!

Great find. I have, like you, been looking for a while and to find that sander at that price is an awsome find.

Wow, I didn't realize the sandpaper was so expensive. He included 11 new rolls of various grits, near as I can tell that would cost about $100 alone.

I'm starting to feel a little guilty.

You will really enjoy that machine. I picked one up a couple of months ago (but not for that price!!! ). I know I have used mine more more than I thought I would.

As far as sandpaper, I bought a roll of 80 grit and roll of 120 grit from Klingspor. You cut your own strips from that. It does save a bunch of money going that route. I would also recommend purchasing the infeed/outfeed tables for it.

Enjoy!

With that much suckage, you won't even need a dust collector for it!

Nice grab!

I had always thought I would like one. Then there was a thread on SMC how people were not so hip on the thing any longer.
One went on sale up the road from me for $300. Included the outfeed tables. I passed on it. Now sorry I did.
