Piece #100

After a year and 1/2 of this journey I FINALLY made it to my 100th piece. I know it is just a number but I wanted #100 to be something special. This piece of wood was expensive so I hope I can sell it.

Red Mallee burl - 12 x 9 3/4 including the African Blackwood finial. AO finish then buffed and Ren wax.

I am not totally satisfied with the finial but it is sure a heck of a lot better than the first one! Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the outcome.

All comments and critiques welcomed.

Toney

Stunning. Wow. The colors really suit each other as well as the shapes. I like the finial, we see so many of the "other" style, very refreshing to see a "different" one.

All pieces working in harmony.

"Hope I can sell it." No worries there..........

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!

That is a very elegant and simple work of turning! The color of the woods are great together! I truly love the main body shape, not real sure on the finial, I think something is missing but not sure what yet. Maybe nothing it may be my tired eyes!

Great work,

Jeff

Toney - you sure have come a long way in 1 1/2 years! Congrats!

Beautiful work! Love the color combination! Very interesting form on the bowl/box portion - very contemporary! Finials are always a matter of personal taste! I really like this one but have to wonder if more of an angular shape would have been complimentary. I do like that this finial has a little meat on it and looks functional as well as ascetically pleasing.

Great photos! Just enough of a dark background to really enhance the vivid red color of the wood!

Thanks for sharing! I anticipate this piece will sell fast - so set your price accordingly!

Very nice piece Toney! The finial might be just a tiny bit fat, but the simple convex shape is a nice compliment to the concave bowl shape. I like it.

I think you really nailed the form here Toney. The finial complements the piece and makes it contemporary. I also like the fact that the lid is larger than the rim of the bowl - you don't see that everyday. Great job, and I'm sure it will sell, but if I were you, I'd keep it.
