Mushroom box.

There was a challenge to turn a mushroom on one of the other turning sites, so I turned this for it. I've made some like this in the past. This one is turned from a piece of apple. It is 5" inches tall. It makes for a shallow box but puts a different twist on a mushroom.
Thanks,
Jack

Jack - love the imagination! Great form and even the grain of the Apple adds to the effect! Pretty cool idea! Thanks for sharing!

Jack, I really like that! I think I will put that on my list of things to turn, it has lots of potential to use my threading jig! Very nice and thanks for sharing it with us!

I've seen a lot of turned mushrooms but I think this is the first that was also a box. That's really cool. I also like the way you photographed it in a natural "mushroom" setting.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. It is a fun project that I've had a few of my High School Students do over the last couple of years. Do you think I've actually created something new? I just figured someone else would have made a box similar to this before. It would be cool if I could say that I actually created the first one. Something that is becoming very hard to claim with all unbelievably creative turners in the world.
Thanks,
Jack
