Anyone heard of Ashton planes made in sheffield UK
I've got a wooden plane coming with S Ashton Sheffield stamped on it and was wondering if anyone has heard of a manufacturer by that name. I'm wondering if it maybe the owners name and not the manufacturers name.

Check this link http://www.wood-shop.co.uk/vintage-wood-tools.html Scroll down to the "York Pitch Smoothing Plane" with a blade made by S Ashton.... Go to ebay and search.....there's a rare 2" block plane manufactured by S Ashton....

S Ashton Sheffield are in Goodman "British Planemakers" as plane iron makers, not planemakers. No dates are listed.
