Black Walnut Gloat

I'll be building new kitchen cabinets this winter. I was going to use Pecan but I stumbled across some Black Walnut on Craigslist. I think I have aquired my GLOAT of the year. I'll let all of you decide.

1200 BdFt of Kiln Dried Black Walnut for $2200. The guy said it was dried to 6% almost a year ago. I checked with my moisture meter in several places in the pile and it was anywhere from 8.6% - 9.6%.

The guy had a beautful new home with what he estimated to be about 7000 bdft of Black Walnut cabinets and trim in it. He still had about 4000 bdft in his garage, I got 1200 of it.

And of course no gloat is complete without pictures, enjoy.

Heres a 1x8 I jointed and planed. It's some beautiful stuff.

Paul,
Congrats on such a great deal. Wish I could find something like that around my neck of the woods. Guess I'll keep looking at CL for my deal of the century.
Great find.

Walnut is my favorite wood. So you could tell me you got it for $8 a bf and I would say congrats!

Good job on the score. Why'd ya stop at 1200?

The ONLY thing that would make this gloat better is a load of maple to go with it! Like Mike, walnut is my favorite, and when paired up with maple, it doesn't get any better IMO.
