worm track # 2 + large maple bowl

I just finished another HF from the last of the wood I had from worm tracks #1. It is a little larger than # 1. The second bowl is a large open form I turned from some ambrosia maple. It is 17" in dia.
Thanks,
Jack

Gorgeous wood and beautiful form. I especially like the rim of the bowl. Very nice.

Very nice!

Both objects are beautiful. I'm not sure I have a favorite. The bowl is nice. Has a great form. There is a nice detail just below the rim, but other than that the wood is allowed to be the star -- and the wood is star quality!

The vase is also nice. I like the contrast between the refined, classic, shape and the natural edge. At the same time, the lack of any other ornamentation allows that great wood to show off.

Very well done.

They are both very nice, the HF/vase is my favorite of the two just because of the natural edge. While David liked the bowl because of the "substantial look", I like that it appears to be light weight. Is the rim the thickest part?

Jack - love them both! Really like the slightly undercut rim on the bowl! Really adds to the overall form!

The vase is stunning! Beautiful wood, finish and form but the contrast between all those elements with the natural edge is the star of the piece! Grabs your attention and holds it! Very nice work - seriously - very nice work!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I used deft spray on the HF, and saled bowl finish on the large bowl. Dennis, you are right the rim is the thickest part. It still weigh's a little more than 4 pounds which isn't a lot for a usable bowl that is 17" in dia. The rim also provides a good way to hold the bowl when picking it up so it is less likely to slip.
Thanks again,
Jack

Beautiful wood and form! The weight of that bowl makes it great for popcorn, by just holding it at arms length on occasion you could burn more calories than you consume and that would hold a lot of popcorn
Very nice work on both turnings.
