Wheels on a hardwood floor

I am building my son this three wheeled cruiser for christmas. I would like him to be able to cruise around inside the house. But we have all hardwood and I don't want him to mark up the floors. The plans call for wood 6" wheels, I was thinking mower tires. I was also thinking of having an indoor set of tires and an outdoor set. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated!

No experience but can you get small pneumatic tires? I would think mower tires would damage the floor, too. They are pretty hard.

Appliance dolly wheels should work well.

My local Harbor Freight store has lots of small wheels. Some of them have inflatable tires. And the HF store has these wheels priced for less than the home centers.

Paul,
I think your hardwood floors are in big trouble if you turn a little boy loose with that. You might want to consider out-door use.......

Try to find wheels with urethane tires (like the kind you find on high-end shop casters). They will be expensive, but won't mark up your wood floors.

Maybe something like this?

Or... maybe take some urethane bandsaw tires and wrap them around your wooden wheels??

Definately use soft wheels. The finish on hardood is softer than you would think. I would like to build a padded room for my kids! Or maybe I could go in there and hide.
