    Manzanita burl HF/void

Last one before the big Guild Christmas show next weekend. This one was a bear! Worked on and off for 3 days hollowing it. There are 3 main sections divided by the voids. One of them only has about 1 1/2" of solid wood holding it on at the bottom. I cleaned up the inside as best as I could with the scraper on my 1 1/4" boring bar while the whole thing was wrapped with Saran wrap and tape. 12" diameter by 7" tall. One coat of Antique oil then several coats of Deft lacquer.

    Thats OUTSTANDING

I seen a lot of burl turned and turnered by a lot different turners........but this takes it. There just not words for this. I always liked the inclusion, and defects turned in with the bowl. I am always amazed with what you turners can do with an gnarly ole chunk of wood.
    Thanks for sharing.

That took vision and imagination...and a lot of faith. Great accomplishment!

I'm curious as to what RPM you were turning that piece at.

Other than a few minor grammatical errors I find nothing to critique. Your spelling is much improved, by the way.

    Oh, by the way...

Holy Smokes! An amazing collaboration bewteen yourself and mother nature. Well done!

No idea Mark. I think I ended up hollowing around mid speed on my PM. I had to pay more attention to listening to the wood, it would set up some weird harmonics if I wasn't careful with the cutters.
