SawmillCreek Woodworking Community Terms of Service
I. General Terms
It is our policy to support the free flow of information in a manner
best befitting the woodworking community at large. Sawmill Creek
is an online community where woodworkers may come together to share and discuss a common interest. Sawmill Creek reserves the right to refuse or delete any Content of which it becomes aware and reasonably deems not to fulfill its established
purpose. In addition, SawMill Creek shall have the right (but not the obligation) in its sole discretion to edit, refuse or delete any Content that it reasonably considers to violate these Terms without notice. You understand and agree that the service is provided "AS-IS" and that SawMill Creek assumes no responsibility for the timeliness, deletion, mis-delivery or failure to store any user communications.
Registration requires that each member provide (1) true, accurate, current and complete information on the SawMill Creek registration form and (2) maintain and promptly update the Registration Data as necessary to keep it true, accurate, current and complete.
Members are required to supply real first and last names as well as an active email address. Email addresses will only be used to contact our members when the forum Administrator deems necessary. Our forum software provides members the opportunity to render their email address invisible.
If, after investigation, SawMill Creek has reasonable grounds to suspect that any Member's information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, SawMill Creek may suspend or terminate that Member's account and prohibit any and all current or future use of our forums (or any portion thereof) by that individual other than as expressly provided herein. Currently, posting is restricted to registered members. Registration is FREE. Members shall use their real first and last names; handles are not allowed. Members may add an extension to their last name such as city or state when necessary to provide a distinct username, thirty characters are provided. When registering you must certify that you are over the age of 13, in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA).
With respect to text or data entered into and stored by SawMill Creek, the submitting user retains ownership of such Public Content; with respect to publicly-available statistical content which is generated by the site to monitor and display content activity, such content is owned by SawMill Creek. In any such case, the submitting user grants SawMill Creek the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, and display such Content (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed, all subject to the terms of any applicable license.
C. Indemnity; Disclaimer; Limitations of Liability
Each user shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless SawMill Creek, and its parent corporation and affiliates and their respective officers, employees and agents, from any and all claims, demands, damages, costs, and liabilities including reasonable attorney's fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of that user's acts or omissions, including claims arising out of that user's use of SawMill Creek; his or her submission, posting or transmission of Content or his or her violation of the Terms.
D. Forum Moderation
The forums at SawMill Creek are moderated. All posts are subject to moderation by our Members and Administrative Staff. Messages deemed offensive by any member may be reported to our staff by using the 'Report Post to Moderator' option. Any message that is reported to a moderator may be subject to removal, in whole or in part, at our staff's discretion.
1. Religion and Politics
All members shall abstain from engaging in religious or political debate.
2. Disagreements, Flaming, and Personal or Professional Attacks
Disagreements are almost certain to occur. Members shall be respectful of dissenting opinions and refrain from name-calling, personal or professional attacks. Messages that contain critical content must provide all factual information pertinent to the problem and enough data to support any claims or complaints.
Messages that contain explicit, vulgar, or obscene language will be removed or edited at the discretion of the Forum Moderators.
4. Off-Topic (OT) Posts
Off-topic posts that are general in nature are allowed in the appropriate forums.
All information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages, or any other materials whatsoever (collectively, "Content"), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, is the sole responsibility of the person from whom such Content originated. This means that the Member, and not SawMill Creek, is entirely responsible for all Content that he or she uploads, posts, emails or otherwise transmits via SawMill Creek. No Member shall transmit Content or otherwise conduct or participate in any activities on SawMill Creek that, in the judgment of SawMill Creek, is likely to be prohibited by law in any applicable jurisdiction, including laws governing the encryption of software, the export of technology, the transmission of obscenity, or the permissible uses of intellectual property.
E. Commercial Advertising
1. Direct Commercial Affiliation
SawmillCreek maintains an active advertising and marketing program. As such, we seek to provide a non-competitive atmosphere for our advertisers by disallowing commercial posts from our members. Posts made by
Members with direct commercial affiliation, and with the apparent intent of using SawMill Creek for the sole purpose of promoting a product or service will be subject to removal. Members with direct commercial affiliation are defined to be those Members who stand to benefit financially from such a promotion.
2. Indirect Commercial Affiliation
Members may wish to expose other topics of interest, commercial
topics included, but may only do so for the purpose of promoting discussion on the forums.
3. External Linking
Links to other websites are allowed in posts. In fact, they are
encouraged. However, links for the sole purpose of marketing, generating traffic to a site, or any other commercial advertisement deemed to solicit commercial benefit are not allowed. Links to other public or private forums are not allowed. Links should be submitted as references, for the sole purpose of generating or supporting discussions on SawMill Creek.
Links are not allowed in signatures. Signatures may not be gratuitous commercial advertisements containing promotional offers, sales, or other marketing efforts. Members of the "Friends of the Creek" business directory may include an embedded link to their record within their signature block using the facilities provided.
F. Private Messages and Email
1. Members are responsible to manage their Private Message areas and remove stored messages as necessary to remain within a seventy-message limit. The contents of Private Messages shall not be posted in any public areas or electronically transmitted via any email system. Mass emailing by members of SawMill Creek is strictly prohibited.
II. Online Chat
When and if Sawmill Creek provides an online chat service, the following terms apply.
Online chat is a real-time activity and largely un-moderated, much like a normal conversation. Profanity, message floods (repeated posts) and commercial spams are violations of these terms. The Rules and Terms of Service that are applicable to our message boards apply equally to our chat service.

SawMill Creek is committed to protecting the privacy of our members. In order to implement or enforce the Terms, SawMill Creek may use user-provided e-mail addresses to contact users on an individual basis. At no time, unless such disclosure is required by law, a governmental agency, or specifically authorized by the user, will SawMill Creek disclose an individual user's personal information to unrelated third parties that is not publicly available.
Occasionally, SawMill Creek will host giveaways of products provided by third parties. Accounts with (paid) contributor status may opt-in by posting in the thread created for the particular drawing. Non-contributors (unpaid) may opt in by mailing a self addressed stamped envelope to FreeStuff, c/o SawmillCreek, 8770 Little England Rd, Hayes, VA, 23072, along with the title of the prize and registrant's user name. Winners will be notified electronically in the relevant thread, and may claim the prize via private message or by posting in the relevant thread.
