Mark,
That goes to show you just how old my poor machine is, but it keeps plugging along turning out work year after year.
Thanks for all the ideas. I had already checked dwell time, spindle sticking but finally found the problem. The serial cable came into contact with the rotary spindle bands and essentially sliced...
Whew finally figured it out. The cord got in the way of the spindle arm and burned thru the cable. New serial cable installed, tests running, but so far looks good. Thanks all
I posted this in the CNC forum as well, but perhaps we have someone who can help me solve this problem. On some letters the cutter is overshooting. I thought it was a dragging cutter, but it is not....
I am not sure if this is the place, but I have been having a problem that I have not been able to figure out. My engraver has been over-running the edges of the letters. At first I thought it was a...
I am with Mike. We engrave all kinds of things with our Newing Hall and love it. Jewelry, flasks, glass, almost all metals, plastics and more. There are pros and cons to each style but I would not...
Very Awesome! I want to try to get a leather tooled look on wood when I have time to play with the design. It's on my project list for creating wood frames.
Most colored glass engraves well because of the additional contrast. It is my understanding that Ball glass is celebrating their anniversary and brought back the blue canning jars specifically for...
I sell lots of wooden earrings in various designs. So far only 1 returned for breakage and we just replaced it for them. Cost is minimal, customer service is priceless.
It is a one up kind of job if the nameplates are already all cut out. You can run it as a sheet and cut them out after engraving which would speed things up, but I am guessing the company already...
Well it still helps to know that I am not alone. Thanks for commiserating with me.
I just checked their site and it said this will fix it, but I have that installed and it is still doing it.

Has anyone noticed an odd and annoying "bug" in draw and photo-paint X5? If I do an export/publish to pdf or sometimes save as in either program, it won't actually save/export on the first try....
Thank you
Kathy
Very nice! Thanks Mark, a picture IS worth a thousand words. (plus I like visual aids :)
Is there a link to the DVD? I wasn't able to locate it.
Thanks
I know that most of us are perfectionists when it comes to our own work, but if I created something that looked like that, I would be tickled pink. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing
Mark,
We have that same corner punch with the same problem. I hate it for hole punching and usually drill press them. My husband likes it for one/two type plates but rarely gets them centered...
Did you have a problem with shrinkage? I cut lettering out for store displays and I find that it shrinks a little bit from the heat. I would think that wouldn't be good for making templates from....
I let it sit until almost dry or at least tacky. Then buff it off with a pair of nylons. Thinner fonts work best, wide frosted areas don't really fill. When I diamond engrave them and fill, it works...
The craft stores all seem to do wood letters, but I think the acrylic ones would be a nice addition. There is currently a wide interest in words/letters and names for walls and decorations.
As a retail store owner, I can tell you that manufacturers sell this way all the time. You buy the pre-pack with all the letters and then display to sell them individually to the consumer. Some only...
Beautiful work. It is a good day when a plan comes together.
Amazing! Your daughter should be one happy girl.
Newer hairsprays have different compositions, but using the brand Aquanet hairspray from years ago makes a great fixative. FYI, OB-Gyn offices used it for years to set the slides for pap smears....
