Saw this on fleabay when I was looking for a spare banjo for a hollowing set up.

Has this been available for a while and I just haven't seen it?

Says maximum diameter bowl 34 inches. I can just imagine how much that would flop around the end of the lathe if the blank was out of balance.

    Anyone have one?

Hmmm. Very interesting. It looks to me that it would work fine. Can you try it and let us know? My issue would be that it adds 2 feet to the length of the lathe and I’m squeezed for space as it is.

I have the similar setup for my Grizzly g0800 (since discounted) and it works just fine the biggest thing I have turned was a piece finished about 30' X 16"X6" rantangle

It sounded like a airplane taking off and pushed air like a huge fan but the lathe was stable and it was great to be able to stand in front of the work instead of to the side.

Sam - From their website, it looks like Grizzly’s been carrying that outboard extension only since January 2022. (See the mfg date at the bottom of the Parts List and the Manual). However, I’ve owned what appears to be an identical extension for my G0733 that I ordered from Busy Bee Tools in Canada around ten years ago. (The owners of Grizzly and Busy Bee are brothers, BTW). Busy Bee sells it for their Craftex CX802 lathe, which is a sibling of the Grizzly GO733. I bought the extension a year or two before I added a G0766 to my shop in 2015. IMO, the extension is rather light-duty for the 2hp GO733. I would not even consider putting it on my 3hp GO766, with its 4” larger swing. It is nothing like the heavy-duty extension that I remember for the discontinued (sadly) G0800 that Ted refers to in his post.

I notice also that the Grizzly version does not come with a banjo, while the Busy Bee version does. Neither one comes with a tool rest. The artwork and description on the Grizzly site are IMO a bit misleading until you look at the parts list and the manual and note which parts are grayed out and unnumbered, and realize that when Grizzy says a “tool rest base” is not included, they are referring to the banjo.

I had a couple of back and forth s with grizzly about what exactly comes under the description of the tool rest extension. Finally got it down to just the round bar that the tool rest goes into. The picture is misleading as well as the wording. The banjo and the part above it doesn't look like either of the banjos that come on those lathes. (locking handle wise)

I had the longest spindle ever on my lathe today (g0766) and could only get a 36" one on there. Only thing I didn't check was to see if the headstock was pushed all the way to the side or not. I'm thinking it's not going to live up to it's 42" length. But putting that extension on isn't going to help that because the tailstock wouldn't be tall enough.

I purchased one about a year ago. I received the bed extension, toolrest, tool rest extension arm, and the tool post extension.
