There may already be a thread on here that I have not seen, but I would be very interested in how you guys go about setting up for taking pictures of your work. I've been using my pool table and although its OK it does not stack up to the photos some of you guys are posting. Roger seems to have a setup just for taking his photos. Enlighten us Roger ! ! How do you do it?

Well.....interesting question! I did purchase a dedicated photo setup last year, it is not big enough to accommodate my photogradient backgrounds, [of which I have 3 colors] I don't particularly care for them however! What I have been doing lately is not enough.....I have basically been just putting the background on a couple of boxes and tape the top to the wall over them. My camera [a Nikon digital SLR] is good one, so I get pretty good pics. One thing I need to do is pull out my lights that came with the photo setup and use them at an angle to light behind the turning.........that way I would not get those shadows you see in some of the pics........[been too lazy to pull it all out and set it up for just a couple of pics here & there!] I use Faststone photo viewer software to crop and adjust lighting if needed...........pretty simple and I could do a better job if I would just pull out the photobooth and lights and use them correctly!!!

I meant to say the backgrounds that came with the photo setup I don't particularly care for, so I purchased photo gradient backdrops for my pics. The forum won't let me post over 1000 characters, so I had to do this separate reply!

I seem to recall seeing a video on YouTube where a guy used mirrors to direct the light to take away shadows or produce them where he did want them. It kept him from having to invest in more lighting fixtures.

Whatever you are doing, sure looks good. My pool table makes for a good platform, but I needs some backdrops that can be set up and taken down easily and store very compact under the table.

    Thanks
