Bill......I have the same length on my G0698........I really appreciate having the extra length, especially when using a hollowing rig and steady rest. I can keep that tailstock on without bumping my elbow. With the small size of my shop, turning off the end of the bed is not an option at this time, so that extra length over a Jet or PM lathe really is a standout feature for me!

    Welcome to the GGMG!

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm already getting impatient waiting on my G0766..... even though its only been two weeks since I ordered it! I just hope the Feb. 14th date holds true.....the email I got said it was the best possible date given to Grizzly by their vendor, but was not guaranteed. I still think this is a super value for a large and highly featured lathe, and is well worth the wait!

I agree it's worth the wait. By chance, do they have one on display at Grizzly? I may have to do a run north to CT and would swing by Grizzly in PA on the way home. I drive within an hour of them anyway.

Randy, since they don't have them in stock until the first shipment, I would doubt they had one on display. Of course, a trip to Muncy might be fun anyway! If by chance they did have a display model, you could take pics with your phone and post some here for us!

I will if I go but it's not in the near future as of yet. I was thinking they may have had one shipped to each store since it was going to be in the new catalog. Maybe more hoping I don't know.

I know I'm chomping at the bit! Just trying to imagine turning a bowl big enough my Grandkids can take a bath in I have to admit going from 3/4 hp to 3 hp is a bit intimidating. I might be turning toothpicks til I get used to it.

Just take it easy, Steve until you get used to it..........I have turned on everything from 1 hp to 3 hp Robust American Beauty........big power can get away from you, so use good tool presentation and try your best to avoid that big catch!

Would a 12 foot handle on my bowl gouge be out of line? Just teasing LOL. No I will be turning small til I get used to it and a feel for the extra power. Tree trunks will have to come later.

Wonder if I can get just the handwheel and put it on my 733?

Same spindle size, Terry, but I do not think the 0733 has the extended spindle that was machined for this new G0766 model. You can however add one that you make by using the threaded holes in the outside pulley........just turn one and line up the holes and add your hand wheel. You will have to take off the orange disc that covers the spindle end, however.

When they finally get the new model's manual posted, we will know more about the specifics of any upgrades or modifications, so hang tight!
