Anybody use a smaller faceplate than what came with the g0766? Say a 3 inch. And if so does it fit without filing the spindle?

I haven't had to file my spindle because I'm using a grizzly chuck so I'd like to find a faceplate that doesn't need the spindle filed to fit.

I have some blanks that I was going to try my hand at shallow bowls or platters (however they turn out)

I bought this one last week just before my lathe came in and it fit over the spindle before i files it.

I mostly use a 3” face plate with 6 holes. The faceplate that came with my G0800 is a 3”, and the one that came with my G0766 is the 6”. For most applications, I like the smaller size due to the way I like to finish off the bottom of bowls, etc.

Thanks Scott, just the info I needed.

Roger, I looked up the part number for the g0800 faceplate figured it would fit as well but it's backordered and twice the money for some reason.

Sam, my 3" faceplate is made by Easy Wood Tools. There are numerous other places, and I would encourage you to look at Best Wood Tools, who makes great accessories for lathes. www.bestwoodtools.com
