Jim from Massachusetts here. Please forgive the private msg - I no longer post publicly. http://brfinewoodworking.com Bob Rozaieski has an even (if antiquated) approach to working by hand. Jim Tolpin's "The new Traditional woodworker" is the text I lean on. Jim uses a few power tools to get things ready for bench time. May I recommend you take a fundamentals course before buying handtools? There's no substitute for handling, and demonstration shows are designed to sell product.
